🌱 MD MOA School Expansion Goal: 50 Schools by 2027
Growing 50 School Gardens. Growing a Generation.
The Maryland Ministry of Agriculture, Inc. (MD MOA) is proud to launch its flagship initiative:
“50 by ‘27” — our goal to establish sustainable agriculture education programs in 50 of Baltimore City’s 154 public and public charter schools by the year 2027.
Through this bold and impactful effort, we are creating spaces for students to explore, learn, and thrive through hands-on gardening and environmental education. Every school garden built is a living classroom where science, sustainability, and self-reliance take root.
Why It Matters
Baltimore’s youth deserve more than textbooks — they deserve transformation. Our school-based programs equip students with:
🌾 Agricultural literacy through weekly after-school and in-class learning
🌿 Environmental awareness and personal responsibility
🔬 STEAM integration through soil science, botany, and sustainable engineering
👩🏽🌾 Career exposure in urban farming, green business, and food equity
🫱🏽🫲🏼 Community pride through beautification and local food production
Inspiring a Movement Across Maryland
“50 by ’27” is just the beginning.
As we take root in Baltimore, we are also planting the seeds of change in surrounding counties. MD MOA is actively working to inspire children, educators, and home growers across Central Maryland to:
Start their own backyard or school gardens
Join workshops and public education events
Adopt sustainable habits that uplift communities and protect the Earth
Our July 2025 training at Langston Hughes Community Center reached full capacity — and we’re just getting started. Upcoming workshops like “Seeds of Resilience” on August 2, 2025, will continue to empower families, educators, and community leaders to grow their own food and grow their impact.
Join the Movement
Whether you're a school administrator, teacher, parent, or passionate grower, there's a place for you in the MD MOA network. Let’s build something green and powerful—together.
