🌱 MD MOA School Expansion Goal: 50 Schools by 2028

Growing 50 School Gardens. Growing a Generation.

The Maryland Ministry of Agriculture, Inc. (MD MOA) proudly introduces its flagship initiative: “50 by ’28.”

Our goal is to establish sustainable agriculture education programs in 50 of Baltimore City’s 154 public and public charter schools by the year 2028.

Through this bold effort, we are cultivating more than gardens—we are creating living classrooms where students explore science, sustainability, and self-reliance through hands-on learning. Each garden becomes a space where knowledge grows alongside confidence, leadership, and community pride.

🌾 Why It Matters

Baltimore’s youth deserve more than textbooks—they deserve transformation. Our programs equip students with:

  • 🌾 Agricultural literacy through weekly after-school and in-class learning

  • 🌿 Environmental awareness and personal responsibility

  • 🔬 STEAM integration through soil science, botany, and sustainable engineering

  • 👩🏽‍🌾 Career exposure in urban farming, green business, and food equity

  • 🫱🏽‍🫲🏼 Community pride through beautification and local food production

🌿 Inspiring a Movement Across Maryland

“50 by ’28” is just the beginning.

While we take root in Baltimore, we are also expanding across Central Maryland—empowering children, educators, and families to:

  • Start backyard and school gardens

  • Participate in workshops and public education programs

  • Adopt sustainable practices that strengthen communities and protect our environment

Our inaugural Seeds of Resilience training, held in July 2025 at the Langston Hughes Community Center, reached full capacity—marking the start of a growing movement. As we launch our new website, we continue building on that momentum with upcoming workshops, including Seeds of Resilience on August 8, 2026, designed to equip families, educators, and community leaders with the tools to grow their own food and expand their impact.
